“Homelessness is ravaging the San Diego area. This spiraling crisis continues to increase year over year. $24 Billion has been spent in the state of CA combating this humanitarian crisis with no impact. An audit was conducted and in April the audit revealed that San Diego amongst other cities did not track revenue, spending or collect data on how the funds affected the homelessness epidemic. Those in charge want cookie cutter solutions to a wildly complex problem. We need all of the above solutions to homelessness that includes prevention, mental health and addiction treatment, as well as housing. Yes, we should aim to get those who currently are homeless off the streets, but it’s just as important to prevent more of our fellow citizens from having to endure something as devastating as homelessness. I am proud to serve as a Board Member on the Southern CA Salvation Army Met Board. We are breaking ground on another transformative campus located at the epicenter of where are homeless are downtown. The campus will span one city block long and provide a pathway to brighter futures.”

“I’ve been battle-tested. I’ve had success at reducing the cost of living, at being a victim’s advocate, fighting homelessness and solving for it – introducing programs that actually work – common sense programs into San Diego County, and I’ve had success at getting back to educational excellence in our schools and protecting children behind the gates of schools.”- Kristie Bruce-Lane

“Public safety has collapsed in California. Our state’s crime is directly linked to decisions made by our state’s legislature. California cannot move forward  unless there is accountability and common sense policies that make our communities and neighborhoods safe.”- Kristie Bruce-Lane

“Shelters should be used as a tool, not a goal.” -Kristie Bruce-Lane
